Joel Fontenot

Joel graduated from Sam Houston in 1978. In his high school years, he was involved in bull riding. He was a member of Local 406 and Pipeliners Local. Joel loved fishing and spending time with his family and friends. His love for his family was untouchable. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Joel was considered a saint by his daughter and wife, and this was told to him always.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Elsie and Joe Fontenot, and his sister, Sandy Fontenot.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 29 years, Dawn Diaz Fontenot; his daughter and son-in-law, Emily Fontenot Cupit and husband, Ronnie; granddaughter, Ava Jolie Cupit and his brother, Mike Fontenot and wife, Jane and his children, Cody and Brittany Fontenot.

His funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday, January 7, 2011 at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Msgr. Charles Dubois will officiate. Burial will be in New Ritchie Cemetery.
