OBITUARY
Julia Mae Dozier
13 January, 1931 – 5 December, 2022

IN THE CARE OF
J. E. Hixson & Sons
Julia Mae Dozier was born on January 13, 1931, in Grand Chenier, LA to the late Albert Dozier and Ellen Washington Dozier.
Julia lived for her family and friends, "Food tastes better when shared." Among her greatest joys was being with her family. None could compare to her cooking. When she heard you were coming for a visit, the cooking would start. If not prepared by her, it just didn’t “Taste good, or it was too salty.” Beside her love for family and food, she loved flowers. If you needed a corsage or boutonniere, she was the one to
mention it to.
She loved to travel to visit family. Traveling to Florida every summer to visit her family and friends, always bringing a family member for company on the ride. She would visit her sister in Chicago, IL., and granddaughter in Gary, IN., and other family members in Oklahoma.
Her love for her family extended to others, especially the sick. If she found out you were sick, you could expect her to bring food or come by to render her ‘expert opinion.’ She had a sharp exterior and loving heart. She always helped in any way she could.
She accepted Christ at an early age and united with Pleasant Hill Baptist Church under the guidance of Rev. O’Neal King. She followed him to Riverside Baptist Church, currently pastored by Rev. Lee W. Wilson.
On Monday, December 05, 2022, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Julia was invited to sit at a table in heaven, affectionately prepared for her, the seasoning would be exactly right, without too much salt.
Awaiting her at this heavenly feast are loved ones who preceded her in death: her parents, Albert and Ellen Dozier; two brothers, Frank A.Dozier, Sr., and Charles S. Dozier; two sisters: Ida Dozier Kinchen and Lula Dozier Davis.
Her legacy of love and family will be continued by her two sons: Douglas(Delores) Dozier of Lake Charles, LA; Renaldo (Felicia) Anderson of Iowa, LA. Her bonus children are innumerable, you know who you are, she loved you as her own. Julia also leaves biological and bonus grandchildren, great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and extended family members who will
continue to cherish her memory.
Visitation will be held at Hixson Funeral home at 3001 Ryan St. Lake Charles, LA, 70601 at 10:00am in the Chapel of Peace. A funeral Service will follow visitation in the Chapel of Peace at 11:00am.
