Laura Mae Sherman

Born in Abbeville, LA, Mrs. Sherman was a graduate of USL where she received her teachers degree in Education. She taught throughout the United States prior to her retirement. She was recognized by the San Francisco Newspaper for the many lives she touched while teaching. She also taught school at Our Lady Queen of Heaven for many years as a substitute teacher. When she arrived in Lake Charles Our Lady Queen of Heaven School opened their arms to her and made her part of the school family. She attended church at the Cathedral.

She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Guillory and husband Jim of Lake Charles; sister, Dulah Marie “Jerri” Plaisance of Lake Charles; grandsons, Roger Dale Corbello, Jr, Christopher Wayne Corbello and wife Erica; great grandchildren, Sarah Christine Corbello, Roger Paul Corbello and Dylan Corbello and nephew and godson, Paul Plaisance, Jr.,many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond “Ray” Bernard Sherman, daughter, Rebecca Ann Sherman, parents, Jean Mehault Hebert and Edie Meyers Hebert, brothers, Henry and Maurice Thibodeaux, sister, Lillian Thibodeaux, siblings, Aluke Hebert, Jean Duas Hebert, Forestier Hebert, Prosper Hebert, Alpha Hebert, Alpheus Hebert and Clarisse Hebert.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30am, Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Our Lady of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00pm until 8:00pm with a rosary at 6:00pm and resume on Thursday at 9:00am until time of service at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles.
