
A prayer will be said for Louis M. Cunningham, 75 at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church. The body was cremated under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home. A lifelong resident of this area he was descended from a pioneer family of Lake Charles. He was educated at Lake Charles High School, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and L.S.U. where he received his Juris Doctor and Master of Arts (History)Degrees. He was formerly in the U.S. Army in the Judge Advocate General Corps attaining the rank of captain. He was a member of Delta Sigma Phi social fraternity,Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity, and Phi Alpha Theta history fraternity. He practiced law in this city for a number of years and was a former member of the Downtown Lions Club. He was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd where he had served as an usher for many years. He is survived by one sister, Mary Cunningham Monroe of Weston, Connecticut, one niece and three nephews, and several grandnephews and nieces. Donations may be given to the Bishop Noland Episcopal Day School or a charity of choice.Funeral service for Mr. Cunningham will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church. A reception will be held at the church prior to the service and following the service will be a gathering at the cemetery, where his ashes will be buried.
