

Margaret Lucille Jackson Edwards, 88, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, Nov. 8. Funeral services will be this Saturday, Nov. 12, 11 a.m. at Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles. The Rev. Chan Willis will officiate. Burial will follow at Consolata Cemetery.
Visitation is this Friday, Nov. 11, 5-8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service at Hixson Funeral Home.
Margaret was born in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, lived in Richmond, California during World War II, briefly returned to Oklahoma and then lived the remainder of her life (67 years) in Lake Charles. Her parents, John Luther Jackson and Bessie Lettie Russell Jackson; her husband, Leonard Edwards; her daughter, Barbara Carpenter; and her sister, Ima Maxine Shaw, preceded her in death. Mother of four children, she was a talented homemaker, seamstress, doll maker, quilt maker, guitarist, artist and crafts artisan. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir for many years, belonged to Presbyterian Women’s Circle, was a Sunday school teacher, and shared her sewing talents by creating Christmas and Jesse Tree banners.
Survivors include one son, Scott Edwards and wife Sholeh of Chicago; two daughters, Linda Texada and husband John, and Carolyn Sharp and husband Andy, all of Lake Charles; six grandchildren, Jeffrey Texada, Michael Texada, Nicholas Carpenter, Jordan Carpenter, Duncan Sharp, and Ariana Edwards; and six great grandchildren.
