Melva kept her Bible close by her side and showed her love through the services and celebrations at the Hayes Methodist Church and in the community by preparing and serving her delicious foods and desserts. During the holidays and special times, Melva would always share her dessert trays and they were the best! After she raised her children and took care of her husband, Melva became a caretaker for the elderly in her community. She loved her four grandchildren and her smile would brighten up any room when talking about them. Melva had the most beautiful blue eyes that would always sparkle.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Samuel Alvin Hayes and Irvin Allen Hayes; four grandchildren, Gage Hayes, Meranda Hayes Fontenot, Abigail Hayes and Christian Hayes; three sisters, Shirley Freeman, Virginia Rose Orfila and Tommy McDaniel; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin T. Hayes; son, Marvin Tolliver Hayes, Jr. "Tollie"; and siblings, Evon Wrobliski, Jim Hippler, Wayne Hippler, Wanda Barret and Mike Ayres.
