

He was born in Pecan Island, LA and was a member of Lighthouse Tabernacle. He was retired from Sun Oil Co., was a U.S. Army Veteran, served on the board of trustees at Lighthouse Tabernacle, taught numerous bible studies and was instrumental in starting a church in Abbeville, LA.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Melancon; sons, David Melancon and wife, Debra (Heidi, Andrew), Randall Melancon, Michael Melancon and wife, Carla (Heather, Bradley, Travis) all of Sulphur, LA, Todd Melancon (Tanner) of Southhaven, MS, Gregory Melancon and wife, Shelly (Nathan, Natalie, Nicole, Edin, Kaylene) of Oklahoma City, OK; 7 sisters and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lionel and Effie Melancon; 1 brother; 2 sisters and a granddaughter, Lori Beth. His most precious treasure was his family.
His funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday, October 1, 2010 at Lighthouse Tabernacle in Sulphur. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines South under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles.
