Nolan Matthew Robichaux, Jr, 78 years old, was called home to be with the Heavenly Father on February 17, 2024, in Flowood, Mississippi. Nolan was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on April 16, 1945, to Rita Leary Robichaux and Nolan Matthew Robichaux, Sr.
Nolan had a love for learning. He was an honors graduate of De La Salle High School in New Orleans. He attended Louisiana State University from 1963-67, where he was a member of the Golden Band from Tigerland and met his loving wife, Linda Hooks Robichaux, of 56 years.
After graduating from LSU with a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering, he went on to attain his license as a professional engineer. He worked at Mike Hooks, Inc. for 38 years where he served as vice president and president and was on the board of directors.
Nolan loved his career. He was a member of the Louisiana Engineering Society, the Society of American Military Engineers, the Western Dredging Association, and the World Dredging Association. In 2010, the American Society of Civil Engineers awarded him with Life Membership status for his career-long commitment to the civil engineering profession. Nolan was also a member of the LSU Alumni Association and the Young Men's Business Association.
At age 60, Nolan moved to Mandeville, Louisiana, and later moved to Flowood, Mississippi, where they lived most recently. He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Hooks Robichaux; two children, his daughter Stacey Robichaux Hayes and husband Corey, his son Kevin Nolan Robichaux and wife Kim; and his six grandchildren Ty Breaux and wife Carolina, Aden Hayes, Kyla Hayes, Cooper Robichaux, Jackson Robichaux, and Sawyer Robichaux. Nolan is fondly remembered by his sister, Anne Holder and husband George, and his nephews, George, and Matt Holder.
Nolan loved life and enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, running, playing golf, coaching his son's sports teams, and attending his daughter's festival pageants. He was a tremendous family man whose love for his family will be fondly remembered. He always put family first, and it never went unnoticed. He will be greatly missed by all those who loved him.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Friday, February 23, 2024 at J.E. Hixson Funeral Home. A Scripture Service will begin at Noon in the Chapel of Lilies at J.E.
