Ola Mae (Young) Rogers

Ola Mae Young Rogers, age 95, of Lake Charles, Louisiana passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. Ola Mae was of the Catholic Faith, raised in Welsh and graduated in 1945 from Welsh High School where she was captain of the basketball team, married in December of 1945, she retired from The Louisiana Department of Labor and traveled extensively.

Ola Mae is preceded in death by her parents Ody and Oziea Young, her husband J.B. Rogers, daughter, Karen Sue Messenger and son in law Terry Messenger, son John Wayne Rogers, son in law David Degeyter,son in law Larry Murphy, brother, A.J. Young, sister, Mary Winnie Lognion, as well as many other of her close friends.

She is survived by her 3 daughters; Linda Degeyter, Barbara Hickox and Laura Strahan, 7 grandchildren, numerous great and great great grandchildren, nieces; Glenda Faye Allen, Judy Pederson, nephew James Carroll Shuff and family friend Cecil Fritz.

Visitation will be from 8:30 A.M. until 10:00 A.M. on Friday, A Rosary will be recited at 10:00 A.M. on Friday February 16, 2024 in the Chapel of Hixson Funeral Home, 3001 Ryan St. Lake Charles, La. Interment will follow at Lacassine Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Harbor Hospice or the charity of your choice.
