OBITUARY

Phillip Randall Mayeux

15 September, 1962 – 2 September, 2024
IN THE CARE OF

J. E. Hixson & Sons

Phillip Randall Mayeux, 61, of Thibodaux, Louisiana, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024. He was born on September 15, 1962, in Hartford City, Indiana.

Phillip spent much of his life working on oil rigs, a job he was passionate about. Later, he settled down and took pride in helping to run the family business. Even in retirement, his love for working with his hands never faded, and he continued to take on projects for friends.

He enjoyed fishing, poker, and cherished time spent with his family.

Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Shirley Utley; his daughters, Ashley Dickerson and her husband Alex, and Holly Mayeux and her spouse Ben; and his beloved grandson, Harrison Dickerson. He is also remembered by his ex-wife, Paula Mayeux.

“Roads go ever ever on,

Over rock and under tree,

By caves where never sun has shone,

By streams that never find the sea;

Over snow by winter sown,

And through the merry flowers of June,

Over grass and over stone,

And under mountains in the moon.

Roads go ever ever on

Under cloud and under star,

Yet feet that wandering have gone

Turn at last to home afar.

Eyes that fire and sword have seen

And horror in the halls of stone

Look at last on meadows green

And trees and hills they long have known.

Roads go ever on and on

Out from the door where it began.

Now far ahead the Road has gone,

Let others follow it who can!

Let them a journey new begin,

But I at last with weary feet

Will turn towards the lighted inn,

My evening-rest and sleep to meet”
