

He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Occupation of France. He was a 1944 graduate of Lake Charles High School where his surviving classmates meet for a meal every three months to this day. He established Morgan Roofing Company in 1948. He was a member of the National Roofing Contractors Association and helped establish the Louisiana Roofing Contractors Association. He established and was President of the Mid City Little League Senior Division. He also established the first McNeese Track Club in 1968. He was a life member of the Safari Club International and Ducks Unlimited. He loved hunting and football.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Margaret Pfoertner Morgan of Lake Charles; sons, Richard W. “Dicky” Morgan and wife Charlotte Ann of Moss Bluff, Robert A. “Bobby” Morgan and wife Peggy of Lake Charles, Ray M. Morgan Jr. and wife Lisa Creel Morgan of Lake Charles; brother, Cecil D. Morgan of Lake Charles; sister, Gail Smithwick and husband Ron of Columbia, South Carolina; eight grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, E.D. and Cecil Morgan Sr.; and brothers, Ernest D. Morgan Jr., Charles E. Morgan Sr. and William R. Morgan Sr.

His funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles. Rev. Henry Bowden will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Prien Memorial Park. His visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday, November 19, 2012 and will resume Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. until the time of service at Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles.
