Richard Barnes

Mr. Barnes was born in Texas and was a resident of the Oakdale-Lake Charles area for the remainder of his life. He was a very loving and kind man to everyone he met. He lived with CARC for 16 years and later moved to Oakdale to Preferred Living where he was loved by everyone. He leaves behind two loving families, Preferred Living and his own loving brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. He had previously worked at Isle of Capri as well as the Sunshine Thrift Store in Oberlin.

Those left to cherish his memory are his brothers, Daniel Barnes of Moore, OK, Robert Barnes of Lockport, IL and his sister, Elizabeth DeWoody of Sulphur, LA. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ela Barnes and his brother, Rhea Barnes.

His funeral service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Rev. Charles McMillan will officiate. Burial will be in Prien Memorial Park.
