Rita Bergeron, age 89, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, passed away on July 29, 2023. Born on September 2, 1933, in Lawtell, Louisiana, Rita was the daughter of Clarence and Rena Ledoux. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Mervin Louis Bergeron, her parents and her brother, Liesse Ledoux.
Rita is survived by her three sons and their wives: Keith and Mary Bergeron, Kevin and Sandi Bergeron, and Craig and Kristie Bergeron. She was a cherished grandmother to her six grandchildren: Kristy Desjardine, Dana Savoie, Whitni Pennington, Daniel Bergeron, Callie Nunez, and Emily Miller. Rita also leaves behind several great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her two brothers, Glenn and Ronald Ledoux.
Rita was a devout member of St. Margaret Catholic Church, where she found solace and strength. She found joy in her faith and the community she found at the church.
In her free time, Rita loved to play Booray and Pokeno. These hobbies brought her much happiness and allowed her to connect with friends and loved ones.
A visitation will be held at J. E. Hixson & Sons Funeral Home Thursday, August 3, 2023 from 4 pm to 8 pm, with a rosary at 6 pm. Visitation will resume the following day 8 am Friday, August 4, 2023 until time of funeral service at 10 am held at St. Margaret Catholic Church in Lake Charles. Interment will follow at Prien Memorial Park Cemetery.
