Roy Stephen Brown III, who preferred to be called Steve, was born on October 20, 1948, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and passed away on April 16, 2025. Steve's life was marked by his love for the great outdoors, particularly his passion for duck hunting and fishing offshore. He was a cherished member of the Southwest Louisiana Fishing Club for most of his adult life, where he served as President and Treasurer.
Steve was an entrepreneur who owned Brown Building Supply and worked as an independent title abstractor. He was a graduate of Lake Charles High School and McNeese State University, where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Steve also loved music, especially the genres from the 1960s and 1970s. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Steve is survived by his wife, Jill Brown, who supported him through all of life's journeys. He leaves behind his daughter, Allison Brown Buehner, and her husband, Jay; his son, Stephen Brown; and his beloved granddaughter, Genna Brown. His sister, Nancy Brown Tugwell, and her husband, Gordon; his sister-in-law, Donna Duhon; niece and nephews; extended family; and countless friends will also cherish his memory.
Steve's memory will be forever etched in the hearts of his family and friends. His spirit will live on through the stories shared and the memories cherished by those who knew and loved him. His love for the outdoors and his dedication to his family are lasting legacies that will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Pallbearers for the funeral will be Stephen Brown, Jay Buehner, Troy Duhon, Toby Duhon, John Van Norman IV, and Benjamin Andrus.
The family will welcome relatives and friends at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 beginning at 10:00 a.m. A Celebration of Life led by Hixson Celebrant Jody Tyler will begin at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Prien Memorial Park.
