Stephen "Stevie" Paul Creel

Stevie was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana on August 20, 1962. He is the son of Mary Jane Stephens Creel and Paul Larry Creel.

Stevie graduated from La Grange High School in 1980 and studied at McNeese State University. After a long career in security, Stevie retired from the Port of Lake Charles.

Stevie loved spending time with family, watching sports, fishing and being outdoors. He was skilled at mechanics and always generous with his time and expertise. Stevie had a knack for making people feel special and will be remembered for his dry wit, playful nature, and love for family. In the last several years, Stevie was also a devoted caretaker to his mother.

Stevie will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends, especially by his beloved fur baby, Sawyer. He has gone too soon but will never be forgotten.

He is preceded in death by his father, Paul Larry Creel, his maternal grandparents, Neoma Jane and Alva Mark Stephens, and his paternal grandparents, Anna Mae and Bernard Scott Creel. Two uncles, Robert Martin Creel and Lawrence Edwin “Larry” Rice.

Stevie is survived by his mother, Mary Jane Stephens Creel, brother, Mark Scott “Scotty” (Daphne) Creel, and sister, Suzanne Marie “Suzy” (Stephen) Berniard; two nieces, Nici Creel (Mitchell) Babineaux and Emileigh Jane (Race) Fontenot, two great nieces, Chloee Beth and Layna Grace Babineaux, and two great nephews Mason Gage Babineaux and Charlie Scott Fontenot.

He is also survived by his uncles, Lynwood Jerry (Jackie) Stephens and Anthony Mark “Tony” Stephens; his aunts, Donna Jill Rice, Barbara Jo Stephens, Mary Claire “Sissy” Dartez, Kaye Thomas Creel; his cousins, Lori Rice Berry and family, Troy Duane Rice and family, Jill Ann Phillips and family, Jeff Alan Rice, Kitty Stephens Johnson and family, Jeremy Claude Stephens, Ruth Neoma Stephens, Sara Elizabeth Stephens, Kevin Todd Creel and family, Tessie Michele Dupuis and family, and Lisa Faith Morgan and family; and, his dear friend, Gwen “Gwenie” Thompson.

The family will welcome the public for visitation Saturday July 2, 2022 from 10:00am until time of service at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Lillies at J.E. Hixson & Sons Funeral Home, Lake Charles, LA. Services will be officiated by Deacon Pousson.
