Todd was born on July 15th, 1968, to George and Margaret “Peggy” Owens in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He lived in several states before moving to Germany in the early 1980s.
After Todd graduated from Bitburg American School in 1986, he returned to the United States and went on to study business administration at Mountain View College in Dallas, Texas. Upon graduation, Todd followed in his father’s footsteps and worked for the Army Air Force Exchange Service for several years. Todd’s love of travel and adventure inspired him to trade in his suits for a tractor-trailer. He spent the rest of his life doing what he loved, driving and seeing the entire country as a long-haul truck driver.
Todd had three sons, Ryan, Josheua, and Dakota with whom he shared his love of heavy metal, long truck rides, conversation, bad jokes, and barbecuing. He was blessed with one grandchild, Aiden.
Todd was preceded in death by his beloved, Lisa, whom he lost recently to cancer. Todd is survived by his parents and sister. He never met a stranger and loved with his whole heart so he was a father, brother, cousin, uncle, and best friend to many, as well as the rescuer of one very lucky stray kitten.
A private service will be held in Lake Charles, Louisiana where he perished. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation in Todd’s name to honor the firefighters that responded to him and the Armed Services he grew up with and respected immensely.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.JEHixson.com for the Owens family.
