She was born September 28, 1939, a graduate of LaGrange High School in 1957, McNeese State University in 1961, where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. She received her Master’s Degree from Tulane University in 1969. She taught English at Lake Charles High School before getting her Masters. She spent her career in social work in St. Louis, MI. and Waco, TX. with veterans.
She is survived by her sister, Etta "Bee" Thompson of Lake Charles and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert, Laughlin, Jr. of Lake Charles; sister, Helen Smith of Sulphur and brother, Glynn A. Laughlin of Riverside, CA.
The family would like to thank the staff at Crestview Nursing Home in Waco, TX. for their extra special care given to her.
Her service will be 11:00am, Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Visitation will begin at 9:00am until time of service. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com
