He was born in Breese, IL, on January 14, 1931. While growing up, his family traveled a lot for construction work. One of his most memorable places to live was Oak Ridge, TN.
During World War ll his father was working on the Manhattan Project. He eventually settled in Louisiana and graduated from Sulphur High School in 1948. He joined the Marines in 1949. After leaving the Service he met his wife, Beverly Jo Babb, of Westlake, LA. They resided there for twenty-five years before moving to Moss Bluff, LA. He was a member of Local 106, Pipefitter and Pipeline Welder and the Westlake Masonic Lodge. He attended Westlake United Methodist Church. Anyone who knew Bill, knew he loved the great outdoors; hunting, fishing, camping, traveling, and his dogs.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Arnold Plack and Esther Hauskins; his wife of fifty-six years, Beverly Babb Hauskins.
He is survived by his brother, Dr. Larry Hauskins; his son, Michael Hauskins, his daughter, Dr. Lori Hauskins Gober and her husband Curt Gober; grandchildren, Lucas Gober, Kelsy Lofton, and Denver Gober; two great grandchildren, Ella and Cohen Gober.
A Memorial Service will be 10:30am, Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Westlake United Methodist Church. Visitation will begin at 9:30am until time of service.
