He is survived by his children, Cindy Core (Ray), Becky Jenkins (Luke), Mike Morris (Melanie), and Derinda Mouton (Val); grandchildren, Willie and Ryan Core, Garrison and Maddie Jenkins, Kelsey, Nick and Allie Morris, and Debra Manuel; great grandchildren, Briar, Sawyer, Graham, Bella, Rhett, Heidi, Saige, Kanton, Keller and Kaigan.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Willa Dean; and brothers, George and Robert Morris.
Bill was a devoted educator, community leader, veteran, and man of faith whose life was marked by service to others and a deep love for his family and community.
Bill graduated from Colfax High School in 1951 and went on to earn his degree from Louisiana Tech University in 1955. Shortly thereafter, he moved to Creole, where he began his career in education as a teacher and coach. In 1956, Bill was commissioned as an officer in the United States Air Force, proudly serving his country.
In 1959, Bill returned to Creole, where he dedicated the next 29 years to the students of Cameron Parish. During his distinguished career in education, he served as a history teacher, guidance counselor, and ultimately as principal of Cameron Elementary School. His steady leadership and genuine care for the young people left a lasting impact on countless students and families.
Following his retirement from education, Bill remained active and industrious, spending another 20 years working with Cameron Construction and Crane Brothers.
Bill was deeply committed to mentoring and guiding young people. He served for many years as a Boy Scout master, earning the prestigious Silver Beaver Award in recognition of his exceptional service to youth. He also took great pride in the youth of Cameron Parish and later founded the Cajun Clay Crackers Skeet Shooting Club, providing young people with opportunities for discipline, sportsmanship, and fellowship.
A man of strong faith, BIll was an active and devoted member of Grand Lake Community Church, where he faithfully served as a deacon. His quiet strength, integrity, and servant's heart were evident in every role he undertook.
BIll will be remembered for his dedication to education, his commitment to youth, his love for his church, and his unwavering service to his community and country. HIs legacy lives on in the many lives he touched and the values he instilled in those around him.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles on Thursday, December 18, 2025 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Friday, December 19, 2025 from 8:00 AM until time of services at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Sweet Lake Grand Lake Cemetery.
