Beverly Louise Bridgewater Corston met with the angels on Sunday, November 13, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Beverly was born in Lansing, Michigan on March 3, 1933 (3/3/33) to Ruth (Easterday) and John Everett Bridgewater. She graduated from Sexton High School in 1951 and graduated nursing school from Henry Ford Hospital in 1954. Beverly married her soul mate, Lloyd Orlo Corston on June 12, 1954 at the Mary Sabina Chapel of Central United Methodist Church. They made their home in Mount Clemens for several years, while Beverly worked at Mount Clemens General and raised their five children.
Bev and Lloyd decided to embark on an adventure to the country and purchased the Lake Odessa Wave newspaper, moving their family in the summer of 1971. Producing the weekly paper and numerous Lake O Fair books was a family affair and became the foundation for many sweet memories. They sold the Wave in 1977 and Bev took a nursing position at the local doctor’s office. After a few years, she began her career as a county health nurse working for Ionia, Ingham and Barry County Health Departments. Bev then took a position as a traveling nurse working with cancer patients, which took her all over Michigan, while reporting to the University of Michigan and the University of Minnesota. She would share her stories for many years. Upon moving to Ortonville in 1985, Bev worked for Genesee County Health Department until retiring in 1996. She and Lloyd moved to New Bern, North Carolina for yet another adventure. They returned to Michigan in 2003, building their forever home in Vermontville.
Bev and Lloyd enjoyed cruising in their 1965 Thunderbird convertible and their 1994 Mustang Cobra convertible. When they weren’t driving all over Michigan in their collector cars, they were cruising the waves in their 36 foot Bayliner, the “Inamorata”. Beverly loved her church family at Central United Methodist Church and shared many wonderful moments with them. She would say without hesitation that she was blessed beyond words. Beverly dearly loved her children and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a deeply generous and faithfully committed servant of God.
Beverly is survived by her brother in law, Richard Bitney, her sister in law, Meredith Bridgewater, her sister in law Patricia Taylor, her children Kerry (Kendall) Wilcox, Mark Corston, Kimberly (David) Duffield, and Kami Brown. She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Everett and Ruth Bridgewater, and by her loving husband of 65 years, Lloyd Orlo Corston, son Lloyd Everett Corston, daughter in law, Marylou Peterson and great-granddaughter, Kyra Winslow.
Anyone wishing to make a memorial donation please consider giving to the Central United Methodist Church in Lake Odessa, Michigan. Sincere thanks to the Portland Assisted Living & Memory Care facility in Portland, MI and the Heart-to-Heart Hospice in East Lansing, MI for all of their tender care and concern for Beverly.
