Christine Sue Pierson, age 72, of Freeport, Michigan passed away on Monday, May 26, 2025. Chris was born December 27, 1952 in Hastings, MI to Robert and Betty (Christie) Neil. She attended the one room schoolhouse in Coats Grove for K- 6th grades, and graduated from Hastings High School in 1971. She married her beloved Paul Lewis in 1972. They were married for 53 years. She attended Hope United Methodist Church in Hastings, and later Lakewood Community Church in Lake Odessa.
Chris loved adventures of all kinds. From horseback riding, to motorcycles, to a ride in a bi-plane and a hot air balloon, she even celebrated her 72nd birthday by skydiving! Together, she and Paul traveled with their fifth wheel taking trips to Mt. Rushmore, the Upper Peninsula, and many visits to the Sandhills of Nebraska. Chris had a love for animals. Through their life together, she and Paul owned some of the best dogs that you could imagine.
She retired from FlexFab after 40 years of dedicated service, where she developed life long friends. In her later years, Chris developed an amazing talent for quilting. She put together an untold number of beautiful pieces for all of her loved ones, each labeled by her. Paramount in Chris’ life was her faith. Saved at a young age, she was bold in sharing her love of Jesus.
Chris was preceded in death by her parents Robert Neil and Betty (Christie) Neil, brother Mitch Neil, brother in law Randall Syswerda, and grandchildren Brinnon, Samuel, and Leena Schukei. She is survived by her loving husband, Paul Pierson, children Tricia (Ed) Schukei, MacKenzie (Eric) Wells, Jeff (Katie) Pierson, grandchildren Greg and Shelby, Rheegan (Gio) Eldridge, Tanner, Bailey, Eli and Caleigh. Great-grandchildren Lovanna and Kasarra. Her siblings, Jean Syswerda, Mark (Jody) Neil, Theresa Neil, Coleen (Mark) Parrish, Lou Ann (Rich) Wiggers, and her aunt Nancy (Jerry) McDonald.
A visitation will be held at Koops Funeral Chapel, Thursday May 29, 2025 from 5pm until 8pm. A Celebration of Chris's life will be held on May 30, 2025 at Lakewood Community Church at 11am. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
