Donna J. Becher

Donna Jean Becher, 69, of Woodland, formerly of Lansing, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2011, at Magnum Care in Hastings following a long illness and courageous struggle with cancer and heart problems. She was born November 22, 1941 in Lansing, the daughter of Athel and Eleanor (Bever) Mitchell. Donna worked at Diamond Reo and Oldsmobile in Lansing for several years, was a waitress at C & R Restaurant in Lake Odessa and also worked as a bartender for 5 years at Eagles Lodge 3782 in Woodland, of which she was a member. Donna was a wonderful and supportive mother who loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly. She was a natural at decorating her home. Donna loved all kinds of car racing from dirt track to NASCAR and was Dale Earnhardt's number one fan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Eleanor Bush; brothers, Michael and Robert Bush. Surviving are her children, Laurie A. Smith, David L. Johnson and Larry D. Wellman; brothers, Larry (Joyce) Bush, Jim (Tammy) Bush; sister, Jeanette (Michael) Foster; grandchildren, Nikki (Mike) Thiel, Charlese Smith, U.S. Marines Cpl Joel Smith; great grandchildren, Mercedes Lynn Thiel, Navaeh Sky Thiel and Malachi Thiel; cousin, Carol (Larry) Slater; best friend, Niel McCaul. Visitation with the family will be held 5-8 pm on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at Koops Funeral Chapel � Lake Odessa. Funeral Services for Donna will be conducted at 11 am on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at Koops Funeral Chapel � Lake Odessa. Interment Lakeside Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Donna's name may be directed to the Woodland Townhouse.
