Doris Ruth Huyck

Doris Ruth Huyck, age 95, of Lake Odessa, Michigan passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at the AC Flower House in Nashville, MI. Doris was born March 6, 1927 to Harold and Katie (Wager) Girvin in Carson City. On March 21st 1943 at the age of 16, she married Robert Huyck and they celebrated 75 years of marriage before his passing in 2018.

Doris was in education for 33 years, including teaching and administration roles at multiple school systems, retiring from Lakewood Schools. In her retirement, Doris briefly helped the Lakewood Christian School with their program. Children were always of great importance to Doris, especially her grandchildren. Doris was a long time member of the First Congregational Church of Lake Odessa. Robert and Doris had been snow birds for 22 years in Wildwood, Florida, where she was an avid bowler, shuffle boarder, and card player.

She will be dearly missed by; daughters Connie Lowe and M. Colleen Debler, grandchildren Jamie (Mike) Grant, Mandy (Scott) Jackson, Page (Scot) Neustifter, Kecia (Mike) Dillon, step grandson Randy Debler, great-grandchildren Kyle (Kayley) Jackson, Rebecca (Tom) Prowdley, Shannon Jackson, Madison (Kevin) Hoskin, Benjamin (Angie) Dillon, Megan Dillon, Nathan (Savannah Stoepker) Dillon and Maison Neustifter, 10 great-great grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, all seven of her siblings, husband Robert Huyck, son in laws Dan Lowe and Gary Debler and grandson Charles Michael Lowe.

The family would like to thank the staff of AC Flower House for the excellent and loving care they gave to Doris in her final days.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2022 from 2pm until 3pm at Koops Funeral Chapel, Lake Odessa, MI. Funeral services will be at 3pm at Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake Odessa with burial taking place immediately following at Lakeside Cemetery in Lake Odessa, MI.
