June Hecht

Verna La June Hecht, age 92, of Lake Odessa passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at her home surrounded by loving family members. June was born on June 14, 1922 near Nashville, MI to John Elver and Eunice Marietta (Cairns) Barcroft. June graduated from Freeport High School in 1939. She married Theron Hecht in 1941 and together they farmed on the family Centennial Farm until his passing in 2008. June was a member of the Farm Bureau, MSU Extension club, the Brown School Board and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for 20 years and a 4H leader. An Important part of her early family life included playing the piano and accordion. When she had a quiet moment, June enjoyed reading. Survivors include: children Glen T. Hecht, Linda Brauner, Gloria (William Bradford) Hecht, Lorna (Alan) Brecheisen, Phyllis (Millard) Holton and Carol (Bill) Gonyou, 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, sister in law Marge Barcroft along with many nieces and nephews. June was preceded in death by her husband Theron, parents, and brothers Lawrence, Albert, Carl, and Ron. Visitation will be Sunday, September 28, 2014, at 2pm at the Koops Funeral Chapel 935 4th Ave PO Box 565, Lake Odessa MI, 48849. Funeral Services will be held at 3pm at the Koops Funeral Chapel. Interment will take place at Fuller Cemetery, Carlton Township, MI.
