Kenneth “Ken” Benn Stensen passed away on December 26th in Caledonia, Michigan. Born on January 7th, 1962 in Arlington, Washington. Ken was a man who loved adventure. He had three beautiful daughters, Lauren, Taylor, and Nicole who were the loves of his life. Ken is preceded in death by his grandparents, Selvin and Ruth Stensen and Raymond and Ethel Groendyk. Ken is survived by his parents, Scott and Bernice of Stanwood, Washington, his daughters, Lauren, Taylor and Nicole, and sister Shelly (Colin) Kertson of Graham, Washington along with their children.
Ken lived his life to the fullest, he loved skiing, scuba diving, duck hunting, golfing, and running. He graduated from Washington State University in 1985 with a double major in finance and accounting. He enjoyed going to Colorado and Whistler to ski and spent his 20’s scuba diving in the waters around Washington with his friends Don and Kari Hansen. Ken moved to Michigan for his job when he was 29. There he met Kerry, the mother of his children and built a beautiful life with her. Ken loved supporting his daughters in all of their endeavours. He could frequently be found pacing the sidelines of soccer games, swim meets, and water polo games. Ken and Kerry took many amazing family vacations with their daughters. Teaching them to ski in Whistler, snorkeling in the Carribean, hiking in Arizona, and frequently visiting his family in Seattle. He loved going duck hunting at Houghton Lake with his father-in-law (Richard Doane), brother-in-law (Mark Doane), and their many friends. Ken will be greatly missed by those who knew him, he was an amazing father, friend and son.
Private visitation for Ken will be at 11:00am, Saturday January 16th, 2021 with services at 11:30am at Koops Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Epilepsy Foundation to support his daughter, Nicole.
