Kurt Edward Guild, age 72 of Clarksville, Michigan passed away at home, surrounded by family, on December 24, 2024. He was preceded in death by parents Curtis and Edith Guild. Kurt is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Jean (McCaul); sons Justin and Adam; grandchildren Kallista and Evelyn; sisters Teresa (Dennis) Fahrni and Marcia (Jack) Spiess; brother, Scott (Gerri) Guild; nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
Graduating from Lakewood High School in 1971, Kurt found employment as a welder/specialist at Steelcase, a patient advocate at Hope Network, and finally, retiring from Home Depot as a window and door expert. Mentored by the late great Jack Lambert, Kurt excelled as an artist and blessed many with paintings, sketches, and sand sculptures to enjoy.
An avid collector of antique toys, Kurt co-authored the book “Wyandotte Toys are Good and Safe” which collected the company’s history, blueprints, and toy output for enthusiasts everywhere. Residents of Clarksville were so impressed with Kurt’s skills they elected him Village Mayor where he, with a little help from his friends like Chip Livingston, established the town’s first public library.
Backed by the music of the Stones, Joe Cocker, and Arlo Guthrie, Kurt could be seen working on the house - building or fixing anything his wife desired. In his free time, Kurt loved to fish. Whether fly fishing in Montana or up north camping with Dave and the guys, he took peace and a spiritual connection from it which he passed on with faith and love to everyone he met.
The family’s deepest gratitude to Mary Richardson and family, the doctors, nurses, hospice workers and everyone who made sure he had what he needed throughout his fight. He loved you all.
Kurt’s celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Clarksville Bible Church, 191 S. Main St., Clarksville, MI 48815. Luncheon to follow.
