Marilyn A. Garlinger

Marilyn A. Garlinger, 89, of Lake Odessa, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2011 at Woodlawn Meadows in Hastings. She was born December 10, 1921 in Sturgis, Michigan the daughter of Lloyd and Alice (Bryson) Stevenson. Marilyn was married to Frederick O. Garlinger on October 21, 1945. Mr. Garlinger preceded her in death April 18, 2004. Marilyn came to Lake Odessa in 1943 to teach kindergarten. She met Fred while he was home on leave from the army. After their marriage in 1945, they lived briefly in Tyler, Texas. They returned to work in the family business, the Lake Odessa Produce Co. for many years. She was later employed as a bookkeeper with the Lake Odessa Canning Co. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Lake Odessa, a member of the Women's Fellowship and Order of The Eastern Star. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred; brother, Thomas Stevenson. Surviving are her children, daughter, Jill (Mike) Booher and son, Steven (Melanie) Garlinger; grandchildren, Kyle (Leslie) Booher, Erin Booher, Eric Garlinger, Alison Garlinger; great grandchildren, Gavin Booher and Alexis Booher. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at Koops Funeral Chapel – Lake Odessa. Funeral Services for Marilyn will be conducted at 11 am on Wednesday at Koops Funeral Chapel – Lake Odessa, with Pastor Mark Jarvie, officiating. Interment to follow at Lakeside Cemetery – Lake Odessa.
