Martin R Johnson

Martin R Johnson, a beloved and faithful resident of Lake Odessa, Michigan, passed away on January 23, 2026, at the age of 97. Born on July 17, 1928. Mart or Marty, as he was known had many talents and gifts which he shared with everyone he knew. He will be sorely missed.

Preceded in death by his devoted wife, Marian Elaine (Behnke) Johnson, and his parents, Russell and Violet (Haenke) Johnson, Martin was also preceded by his siblings, Jerry, Joan, Jeanne and Billy.

He is survived by his loving daughters, Anne (Larry) Adams, Linda Hanger, and Mary (Donald) Stanfill. Martin's legacy continues through his grandchildren, Kurt (Chantima), Karl (Channing), Elizabeth Adams, Meredith (Rusty) Coleman, Joshua (Caitlin) Johnson, and Amanda Stanfill, as well as his eight great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren

The family is grateful to Carrie Johnson for helping Mart keep his independence, to Shirley Courtney for caring for him while caring for the house and to Hospice of Lansing for their exceptional service.

A Funeral Mass will be held on January 31 at St. Edward Church at 11:00 a.m. Visitation in the church at 10:00 am with a Rosary at 10:30am. Burial will take place later next to his wife Elaine in Lakeside Cemetery.
