

Age 90 of Lantana, FL (formerly of Rochester, NY) passed away October 17, 2010 in her home surrounded by her family. Born in Rochester, NY on August 11, 1920 to the late Beatrice and Louis Palermo. Anita was a talented pianist, a devoted wife and loving mother. Anita started playing the piano at age 4 and started performing recitals at age 12. As a young adult she was a Geneva (New York) piano class teacher. She then became professionally known as Anita Stewart Palmer as a concert pianist and toured throughout the United States and Canada. After touring for several years, she formed a trio consisting of piano, bass and guitar. Her trio performed along the East coast including Boston, New York City and at the Shelburne Lounge in Atlantic City. Through her trio she met Edward DeMatteo and were married on September 6, 1954 and later had two daughters, Michelle and Monica.
Anita is survived by her daughters, Michelle (John) DeAngelo and Monica (Mark) Suess, her grandchildren, Cassandra (Mike) Kurdziolek, Eric and Timmy Suess; and great-grandchild, Hunter Kurdziolek; along with many loving family and friends. She is predeceased by her husband, Edward DeMatteo.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, October 24, at the First Congregational Church of Lake Worth, 1415 North K Street, Lake Worth Fla. Reception to follow the memorial service in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to the Palm Beach Music and Drama Club or to the Lake Worth Play House.
