She immigrated to New York City in 1950 where she enjoyed early adulthood with her uncle Felo and Adelaida Martinez. In 1957 she met Briman Dominguez at night school and soon married. Together they raised two daughters, Rossmeri and Clarita, who were the pride and joy of her life.
Her journey took her from New York City to Ecuador, then to Arkansas, before settling in Palm Beach County, Florida. In 1978, she and Briman gave their lives to Jesus at the Nazarene Church on Military Trail. They loved their church family and were active in the community and mission’s work.
Professionally, Clara worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She gave comfort and compassion to seniors, treating each one with the same kindness she gave her own family.
Though she retired in 2005, that did not slow her down. She was devoted to her grandchildren. She sang in the church choir and formed lasting friendships at the Mid-County Senior Center. She also expressed her creativity through her many hobbies; she played the piano and accordion, crocheted, painted, and shaped art from clay. But most of all, she loved to spend time in her garden.
She is survived by her daughters, Rossmeri Montalvo (husband, Galo) and Clarita Dominguez Strutt; her grandchildren, Cristina Montalvo, Joel Montalvo, and Carlie Paluzzi (husband, Jason); her great-grandchild, Oliver Paluzzi; and many nieces and nephews.
She had a delightful smile and carried with her a quiet but powerful presence. She didn’t need many words to be felt, as her strength and steady spirit spoke for themselves. Always elegant, with a lifelong discipline of caring for her health and appearance, she will be lovingly remembered for her faith, her quiet strength, and the love she shared with her family. Her song will live on in all who knew her.
A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 2nd at 2:00 PM at Dorsey – E. Earl Smith Funeral Home, 3041 Kirk Rd, Lake Worth Beach, FL 33461. Family and friend are invited to gather at 1:00 PM on Saturday prior to services.
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” — Joshua 1:9
