Dennis James Miller, age 70, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025 at his home in Lake Worth, Florida after a valiant battle with cancer. Dennis was a native of Shady Valley, Tennessee but had made his home in Florida for over 40 years.
Preceding Dennis in death are his wife Linda (Gatter) Miller and his parents Sue (Greer) and Isaiah Miller. Left to cherish his memory are his sister Deborah McQueen (Gary), nephew Matt McQueen (Amanda), great-nephews Mason and Hudson McQueen, step-daughter Jennifer Sweet (Chris), step-granddaughters Samantha (Daniel), and Megan (Logan), step-great grandchildren Serenity, Lucas, Tucker, McKinley, and Preslee, special friends Keith Miller and Edilb Hernandez, his 102 year old aunt Izetta Triplett, many cousins, and his beloved dog Kody.
Dennis had been employed by Baker Construction for 35 years and had overseen many projects in the Palm Beach and Miami area, including the Philip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science. Following his retirement from Baker, he participated in a work/study program where he taught math and construction skills to high school students. Of all his career accomplishments, he loved teaching more than any.
Dennis was a skilled and avid trout fisherman and never failed to catch his limit in the Beaver Dam Creek when he came back to Tennessee for his regular visits. From the 3rd grade, under the tutelage of ‘Miss Izetta”, he loved reading. His favorite book was ‘ Pillars of the Earth’ by Ken Follett. He was also a skilled wood craftsman and would spend hours in his backyard shed making special keepsakes for his family and friends. He visited the Boynton Beach jetty almost daily where he loved to photograph the sunrise. He loved finding new and unique musical artists. But of all his interests and hobbies, probably his most favorite was simple sitting in his backyard with Kody watching and listening to the birds.
Dennis was fiercely loyal to his family and friends, never letting time or distance hinder him from keeping in touch. Those who knew him will never forget his unique wit and caring heart. He will be missed.
