Edward Henry Grimm, 87, of Wellington, Florida died September 10th, 2023. He was born September 12, 1935 in Valley Stream, New York and attended Long Beach High School. He joined the Marine Corps on St. Patrick’s Day in March 17, 1953 as part of what was known as the “Shamrock Platoon”. After active duty in the Marines, Ed moved to Long Beach, NY where he met his future wife and love of his life, Eileen Gillam. They married in 1959 and settled in Island Park, NY where they raised their family. The family spent winters in Florida and eventually relocated to Palm Beach County full-time. Ed and Eileen owned and operated Grimm Construction, which truly was a family business. Their sons, as well as many family members and friends, were employed by the business Ed and Eileen had built. Ed was strong minded and resolute, but he also had an enormous heart and great sense of humor. He was generous, loyal, and kind. He was a self-taught man who was wise with the knowledge he gained through all of his life experiences. He enjoyed reading, telling jokes, and spending time with his family. He was a lifelong learner who taught himself how to sew (he made many Covid masks for family and friends), enjoyed cooking (his cheesecakes were legendary), and could build or fix just about anything. He also had keen sense of knowing what people needed, before they even knew. He was always helping out - lending a hand in his special way when he saw those in need. He made an impact on many lives and he will forever be missed. He will be remembered for all the love he shared with his friends and family. He got no greater joy than being with his family, sharing stories and laughing. He loved each and every one of them - you could see it on his face when he was with them. He is survived by his children, Edward (Joyce), Michael (Daise), and Carolyn (Jason); grandchildren, Danny (Camilla), Denise, Kate, and Will; great-grandchildren, Elio and Malu; siblings, Mary and Margaret (Steve); and many nieces and nephews. Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen and his younger brother, Joseph. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held Friday, September 22, 2023, 6pm - 10pm, at Dorsey E. Earl Smith Funeral Home, 3041 Kirk Road, Lake Worth, FL. Burial will be held at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Royal Palm Beach, on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 12pm, where will be laid to rest in peace next to his wife.
