

Of West Palm Beach, FL passed away August 17, 2012 at age 85. She was born November 12, 1926 in Windber, PA to Francis and Sarah Wright (now deceased). She was a loving, loyal wife to her hero husband of 66 years, Charles (now deceased), and the beloved mother of their son Charles, Jr.
Gladys married Charles on March 31, 1945 after his return from active duty in Europe and prison-of-war camp.
During Charles’ many absences, for temporary duty assignments, she kept busy with their son and volunteering for duty with family services, designed to assist in temporary needs of any family, where she spent over 1000 hours as various chairpersons and as coordinator. She continued volunteering in Japan with an exchange program of American and Japanese wives while she realized her life-long dream of a trip to the Orient. She thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the Air Force family and always considered it a hi-lite in her life. She enjoyed dancing, swimming, scuba diving, egging and travel.
Gladys is survived by her son Charles, Jr., and daughter-in-law, Lily of Lake Worth, FL, sister, Elsie Morgan (Washington State), brother, Bob Wright ( New York State); three grandchildren, Patricia Kimmel (Lake Worth, FL), Michael Kimmel (Hollywood, FL) and Rebecca Kimmel-Visosky (Dallas, TX); five great grandchildren: Corey Speert (Columbus, OH), Joseph Speert, USN (Yokosuka, Japan), Shane Kimmel, USAF (Bury St. Edmunds, England), Danielle Webb and husband Justin, Army (Fairbanks, AK) and Dylan Kimmel (Hollywood, FL), one great great grandson, Allen Speert (Columbus, OH) and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by: her four sisters, Ethel, Lillian, Agnes, and Doris; one brother, Orville; and four siblings before her birth.
Friends may visit from 6:00pm - 7:00pm on Friday, August 24th. Funeral services will begin at 7:00pm. Dorsey-E. Earl Smith Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 3041 Kirk Road, Lake Worth, FL 33461.
Immediately after the services Gladys will be cremated and interred in Arlington National Cemetery with her beloved hero husband, Charles.
