

Age 95 of West Palm Beach, FL passed away July 29, 2016. He was born in Chicago, IL to Vincenzo and Rose Montaperto Gallo. Joseph was a Radio/Radar Instructor in the U.S. Air Force. After WWII he became a Lt. Colonel Commander of Group V Civil Air Patrol. In 1949 he began Gulfstream Realty & Insurance Agency, which later became Gallo Insurance & Realty in Lake Worth. He was a Lake Worth City Commissioner and Vice Mayor, Charter Member/Past President of Florida State Exchange Club, Past President of Salvation Army Advisory Board and Lake Worth Chamber of Commerce. Founding/Charter Member of Commerce National Bank 1956 – 1972. Vice President of Florida Association of Realtors. He proudly obtained his private pilot’s license at age 50 and flew his own plane for 15 years. He also played tennis until the age of 93. He was married to the love of his life Genevieve for 74 years until she passed away in 2011.
Joseph is survived by his loving family: sons, Vincent J. Gallo (Betty), Joseph C. Gallo, Robert L. Gallo (Denise); grandchildren, Steven Gallo (Renee), Vincent J. Gallo, Jr. (Brenda), Theresa Ann Gallo, Timothy S. Gallo (Tammy) and Christopher A. Gallo (Sheila); 10 Great Grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Sadie Gallo Knapp.
Friends may visit from 7:00 – 9:00pm on Wednesday, August 3rd at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, August 4th at Dorsey-E. Earl Smith Funeral Home, 3041 Kirk Road, Lake Worth, FL 33461. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Cemetery.
