She was preceded in death by her husband Sidney Henry Wells Sr. and children Sidney Henry Wells Jr., Steven Blaze Wells Sr., and Susan Novak. Her surviving son is Clifton Willis Wells Sr. and his wife Dulce Maria Wells. Jean’s legacy lives on in her nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly and was very proud of.
Jean was born to the Willis family in Washington, North Carolina where she often joked about getting her Southern accent from. She had a wonderful sense of humor and always made you laugh. She was creative, inspiring, thoughtful, dependable, and had a brilliant mind. She retired from the Hollywood Police Department as a dispatcher.
She was crowned with the title ‘Lady Jean’ during her service with the Optimist Club of Boynton Beach where she spent numerous hours helping to serve the community with special events. Lady Jean helped create musical productions with The Children’s Theatre Guild and even starred in the number “Swing on a Star” with BSA Troop 395. She was animated and fun with the love of children in her heart.
Jean was also very devoted to the Center Pointe Church and loved sharing fellowship with her Bible study girls. She loved to read, solve crossword puzzles, Sodoku, build puzzles, and do problem solving games. Her mind was sharp as a tack. She could build fences, do drywall, sew costumes, you name it! She always carried a tool kit in her car just in case.
Most importantly, Jean had a heart of gold. She would help anyone with anything. She’d spend hours as a “therapist” for her friends and was the best audience member for every children’s show she attended. She taught us honesty, loyalty, and pride.
Jesus was proud to receive Jean into his arms, and she now rests in peace in Heaven. Her loving spirit will be missed by all who knew her.
