Vivian (Jake) E Nelson

Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church in Broadwater with Ann Bairn, PMA officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be Wednesday from 1-7 p.m. at Bridgeport Memorial Chapel.  Memorials may be given to the church. Vivian was born on August 28, 1918 northeast of Morrill County, Nebraska to Clark Earl and Mary Lulu (Covalt) Rice. She received her education in Broadwater, graduating from Broadwater High School in 1938.  She was united in marriage to Glen Edward Nelson in Gering on May 3, 1938 and to this union five children were born. Their 65 years of married life were spent farming and ranching in the Broadwater area.  They retired and moved to Bridgeport in 1994. Glen passed away July 27, 2003.  In her last few years, Vivian resided at the Skyview of Bridgeport.

She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and later quilting.  She was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church, Sunshine Extension Club and the Red Hats.

Vivian is survived by her son Kenneth and Patricia Nelson of Montrose, CO; daughters Leania A. and Kent Carter of Ozark, MO and Linda D. and Pete Lussetto of Bridgeport; daughters-in-law Donna Nelson and Jacquiline Lapaseotes both of Bridgeport; eleven grandchildren, Janelle Frerichs, Kellee Gooder, Perry Nelson, Lexie Sterkel, Jeff Carter, Glen Lussetto, Jason Carter, Greg Lussetto, Vanessa Collins, Ryan Nelson and Michael Nelson; 26 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sons Ronald and Dale, husband Glen, brothers Glen, James, Clark, Lyle, Joe and John and sister Juanita Hashagen.
