Betty "Rose" Gonzales was born on January 5, 1927 in Sargent, Colorado to Eustaquio and Josephine Herrera. She was the first of ten children. Rose loved the Lord, and was a born-again Christian, who accepted the Lord as her personal savior.
She married John Gonzales on May 1, 1949. They had five children: Gloria (husband, Bruce), Roseanna (husband, Charlie), Johnny (wife, Debbie), Joseph (wife, Frances) and Gigi (...still looking!). Grandmother to Shannon (husband, Rick), Nick (wife, Stasi), Jared, Todd, Lela (...married to medicine!), Joleen (husband, Jessie), Sarah (husband, Ryan) and Katie (husband, Dave). Great Grandmother to Braden Miltenberger, Jessie Jr. , Antonia, Andre, Sofia, Kayla, Braden Havens, Gustavo, Jacob, Gagge, Dylan, and Leo. Great, great, grandmother to Bria.
Mom is preceded in death by her brothers: Joseph and Larry, and by her sisters: Virginia, Lina and Irene. She is survived by her sisters: Pina, Karen, and Jackie; and her brother, John.
She worked for the City and County of Denver in the Clerk and Recorders office for many years prior to becoming a stay-at-home mom. After her youngest daughter, Gigi, began first grade, she started her house cleaning business, which she continued until she was 80 years old.
Loving to travel the world, she visited Hawaii, Paris, and many countries: Mexico, Spain, England, Scotland, Morocco, and Jamaica. She made many friends on her journeys and - amazingly! - maintained those friendships throughout her life.
She volunteered at The Salvation Army. Being bilingual, she proved valuable as Ambassador to Denver at the grand opening of Denver International Airport. Our mother and father were very active in the American Legion J.P. Martinez Post 204, where she held offices as President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.
Mom’s active lifestyle kept her healthy and vibrant. She went on daily morning walks through her neighborhood, and made friends along the way. She enjoyed riding her bike and swimming. But, most of all, she loved working in her rose garden.
Mom lived a great life throughout her 91 years, and she was able to remain in her own home until the Lord called her. That wouldn’t have been possible without the love, the caring, and the support of her five children and her caregivers: her sister, Pina; Lily, Grace, Carolyn and God-Daughter, Bernadette. We know she appreciated all who took the time to visit her or who called just to say hi, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Mass of Christian Burial at St. Catherine Of Siena, 4200 Federal Blvd, Denver at 11:00am. Interment at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 4400 W Kenyon Ave, Denver, CO 80236 at 1:30pm, Staging Area "B".
