Elenora Ochs Ruppert

Elenora, born on the family farm home outside of Hoxie, Kansas, was the fourth of nine children of Henry & Anna Ochs. After graduation from Hoxie High School in 1942, she soon moved, as a young woman, to Colorado to work at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital. There, she met the love of her life, Jack Ruppert. Jack & Elenora were married on October 30, 1945, and devoted their lives to raising their 8 children in the Catholic faith. Elenora enjoyed laughter, morning coffee with friends, baking bread, family dinners, making rosaries, keeping an immaculately clean and tastefully decorated home, creating oil paintings, burping babies, attending mass and singing in the church choir. Her most cherished role was being her childrens’ greatest cheerleader.

Elenora was preceded in death by her spouse, Jack T. Ruppert, parents and siblings Clem Ochs, Dorothy Wasnalas, Wendolin Ochs, Annie Leiker, Clara Coppen & Steve Ochs, and her grandson, Vicente Pellicer. She is survived by her siblings, Linda Ochs Wood & Henry Ochs, Jr, eight children, Patsy Rider (and Brian), Pamela Pellicer (and Manuel), Ron Ruppert (and Pam), James Ruppert (and Karri), Mary Ruppert (and Lisa), David Ruppert (and Leah), Anita Pakiz (and Pat), Caroline Tuiolosega (and Malo), nineteen grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

The children of Elenora and Jack Ruppert include two nurses, two teachers, three physicians and a veterinarian. As individuals, they are living testaments to the values of education and service to others that Elenora instilled in them and through them, in her grandchildren. Through marriages, births, and adoptions, Jack and Elenora Ruppert’s family grew to encompass three generations that spread over four continents. Together, they blessed their diverse and wide-spread brood with love, respect and honor.

Elenora’s beautiful smile, love of life, graciousness and love will be missed and remembered. Our world is a better place for Elenora’s having lived. Her legacy is that of a simple and abiding love which will continue for many generations.

A visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, February 16th at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 3801 West Ohio Avenue, Denver, CO 80219. This will be followed by Rosary at 10:00 and Mass of the Resurrection at 10:30.
