Jennie grew up on a farm in New Almelo with 10 siblings. It was there in Kansas that she met Elmer (Van) Van Vleet, from a nearby farm. They married and moved to Colorado in 1952. They had two children Connie and Ronald “RD”. Jennie was a dedicated wife and loving mother. She loved to cook and always made great farm fresh meals. She was an avid bowler, enjoyed tending to her beautiful flower garden and she and Van were amazing country swing dancers.
Jennie and Van loved to travel in their camper, and were regular fixtures in the south parking lot of the Broncos games. We all have fond memories of those tailgate parties. Jennie loved a good laugh and was a positive influence on so many people. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, and aunt. She will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer “Van” Van Vleet, her parents Bernard and Anna Mindrup, her brothers Bernard J, Alfred J, Robert F and Dennis, sisters Loretta M DeSanti, Agnes A Lyon, Dorothy Mindrup and her son in law James “Tom” Lucero.
Jennie is survived by her children Connie M Lucero, and Ronald D “RD” (Claire) Van Vleet, sisters Bernice E Miles, Mary Ann “Micky” Grawey, Rosalie A Allen, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service to be announced and she will be laid to rest at Fort Logan Cemetery with her beloved Van.
