Born on March 28, 1932 in Hudson, Michigan to J. Gordon and Wynona Dandignac, Helen grew up with her younger sister, Wynona “Dandi” Dandignac, whom she adored. Their father was a Pastor who had also served as a Chaplain in the Philippines in World War II. His ministry led him to several parishes in different states when Helen was a young girl. During her teenage years, the family lived in Pueblo, Colorado, where Helen attended Centennial High School. She later attended Colorado Women’s College in Denver. Helen was an accomplished PBX Operator who worked at Mountain Bell as well as local hospitals and hotels over the years.
Helen married her high school sweetheart, V.G. Seavy, Jr. (Gerry). She was the beloved mother of four children: Michael (Charmaine), Timothy (Barb), Kathleen Warner (Steve), and Jo Lauren. She is survived by her four children; grandchildren Maggie Warner (Robert), Marcie Kautz (Isaac), Stephanie Seavy, and Tim Seavy; great-grandchildren Emily and Olivia Kautz; and cherished feline companion, Black Knight.
She was preceded in death by her parents and dear sister Dandi.
Helen was a gifted vocalist for much of her life, singing in both church choirs and as a solo artist with an emphasis on sacred hymns and classic arias. Indeed, Helen recorded a personal album, which remains an indelible family treasure.
The greatest joy in Helen’s life was her family and raising her children. She was a wonderful and devoted mother. She loved to take trips to the mountains with her children, and encouraged them in all of their endeavors, attending violin concerts and recitals, school plays, and an array of athletic events, including track meets, swim meets, tennis matches, and basketball games. The loving and unwavering support of her children continued as they became adults with their own families and careers. In her later years, Helen still looked forward to mountain outings with annual adventures to Rocky Mountain National Park and other favorite places. She was an enthusiastic film buff who enjoyed music, theater, and poetry. She was also well versed in and had an abiding love of Holy Scripture.
Helen attended Saint John’s Episcopal Cathedral in Denver for many years. The foundation of Helen’s life was always her deep faith, which guided and sustained all of her days.
Helen’s kindness and warmth was a blessing to all who knew her. May she rest in peace, forever loved.
