
Jeanne Remington passed suddenly from body to spirit on July 17th. She was 91 and still full of vigor. Jeanne was born in 1924 and grew up in Santa Barbara, California. She went to college at Principia College in Illinois and then got a masters at Radcliffe (now Harvard) College.
She married Prof. Charles Remington and they had three children: Eric, Janna and Sheldon during their 30 years at Yale U.
in CT. Jeanne worked with her husband in the biology department and later as Editor of the Peabody Museum of Natural History publications. She wrote a book "Insects of the World" and numerous scientific papers.
Always a great lover of nature and the mountains, she moved to Boulder in 1978 and worked as an editor at Westview Press for 13 years. Volunteer work was for Nature Conservancy, Eco-Cycle, Boulder Valley Humane Society and open space causes. She loved to sing with the CU Festival Chorus, 1st Presbyterian Chancel Choir, and Jubilate! Sacred Singers in Boulder. She was also an accomplished painter. She loved hiking with the Colorado Mountain Club and alone into her eighties. She was indomitable, full of energy and enthusiasm for life, always hungry for knowledge, an avid supporter of RMPBS. She traveled the world, often in pursuit of natural history. She stayed close to her daughter Janna Remington for the last 20 years, enjoying many activities together. She was a joy and inspiration to many.
