Maria Luisa (Diaz) Mares, age 87, peacefully departed this life on Sunday, March 16, 2014 at St. Joseph hospital in Denver, CO with her entire family by her side. She was born in Morenci, Arizona on August 23, 1926 and moved to Denver, Colorado to raise her family.
She married Alberto Mares, and to this union they had 3 beautiful daughters, Rosana, Anna, and Carmen.
Maria enjoyed fishing, gambling, camping, and cooking. She worked for over 20 years as a nurse at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Denver, Colorado.
She is survived by her daughters Carmen and Anna, and stepson Alberto, grandchildren Dick, Rosana, Sarah, Alicia, and Carissa and numerous great grand children.
Proceeded in death by her husband Alberto, daughter Rosana and great grandson Jared Jr.
Visitation will be at 10:30 AM proceeded by memorial service and rosary at 11:00AM on Monday, March 24, 2014 at Advantage Runyan Stevenson Chapel- 6425 W. Alameda Avenue, Lakewood, CO 80226. Immediately following services, burial will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery on Sheridan and Hampden at 1:15 PM.
Reception to follow burial at American Legion J.P. Martinez Post - 42nd and Pecos Street, Denver, CO.
