On another note, I got my love of gardening and flowers and being outside from Mom💕

Most kids aren’t blessed to have an extra family like I was.  

It started with Jennifer, my stepmother, and then grew rather quickly,  to a much larger family. I gained aunts, uncles, cousins, and even more importantly; a grandma. 

I will always remember going to Grandma Mikey’s house. Playing with bubbles in the front yard, or looking all over the house for the kitties. Scouting the kitchen for whatever fruit I could find, or whatever delicious creation she came up with. Running into the garage to get a popsicle EVERY time I went over there — like clockwork.  I spent a lot of days over at her house, and every one of those moments are ones that I will forever hold dear to me. 

Thank you for being everything a grandma was supposed to be, to someone who wasn’t even your actual family. I love you, and will miss you dearly. 

I didn’t get to say much but Mike said everything I would have. Mom really had us think about everyone else and how we can help. She really was involved in the community, and our activities, no matter which house or neighborhood. 
When Dad died, she died. Slowly. And it was hard; we  were with her and tried everything we could to get her to move on. 
My mom was a stubborn and fierce woman. But she couldn’t let go of the past. She couldn’t let go of control. 
She died inside. 
I love my mom and miss her dearly, my best memories are from before Dad died. 
Mike and I would go to lunch with her every week after Dad died for about a year.
It didn’t help
We would call and come by
Then she started getting sick and going to the hospital over and over
We went over and over; we tried and pleaded
We helped and more
But in the end she still had control 
So we made it work so she could go home
And that’s all we had to do 
To help her be at peace
And to go be with Dad


My memory of Mikey was one that I use to this day.  I was never a great cook and loved to pick her brain on how to be one like her.  She would take the time whenever I would call her up to ask for advise.  She wrote down recipes that I still use today.  If the meal wouldn't work out for me, I would call her up and she analyze what I did wrong and we corrected it.  I was constantly calling her and she was always there ready and willing.  

I am sorry that I couldn't have been there in person more over the years but distance was against me.   I did however keep in touch with her often and could always expect a 2 hour sit down on the phone.  

I will miss her dearly and will NEVER forget the "sister" I had with her!
