

Sharon Layne Kidd of Morrison, CO passed away peacefully January 2020. Born in June 1941 to Marcella and O.W. Red Nelson. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Walters and her brother Richard (Rick) Nelson. Survived by her daughters, Kimberlee Spelic and Kelly Swickard; son-in-law Todd Swickard, and her 5 grandchildren; Justin Spelic, Amber Spelic, Briana Spelic, Jade Swickard, and Wesley Swickard.;as well as, her sister- in-law Joel Nelson and her Niece and Nephew Kate Wood and Chris Nelson.
Sharon met her first husband Joe Kidd at Barry's Drive-In. After they were married, Joe and Sharon started American Warehouse Inc. Along with having two beautiful daughters Kim and Kelly. Sharon then decided she wanted to change directions and get into sales. This ultimately led her into heating and air conditioning sales for Tolin Mechanical. She was the first woman to sell 1 million dollars of service contracts in the nation. She received many prestigious awards within the industry. After retiring, she followed her passion and started an interior decorating company known as Excaliber Designs. This past year she then decided to fully retire.
Sharon met her second husband Bill Walters through a business networking group and was married in 1986. She enjoyed going to his hometown of Hayes, KS and being with his larger than life family, creating lifelong relationships that she still had to this day. Bill and Sharon loved traveling, golfing, going to the movies, as well as spending time with their families and friends. Sharon had a vivacious personality and always made people laugh. Sharon still kept in contact with her junior high friends the Byers Babes and high school friends to this day. Throughout the years, she accumulated a plethora of other friends that she made throughout her lifetime. She was a busy woman, and loved to be involved in many different social groups. She was involved in: bowling leagues, bible studies, cooking clubs, a bridge club, and of course a golf league.
She joined Red Rocks Country Club in the 80's and became an integral part of various board positions and served on several committees. She helped create new clubs within the community and sereral of them are still in existence today.
Our mother was the strongest woman we've ever met. She loved her family and her grandchildren and instilled her strong values and sense of humor within them. Although Sharon is no longer with us, she will be dearly missed by all who came to know and love her. She will be forever in our hearts.
Funeral services will be Thursday February 6, 2020 at 10:00 am at Abiding Church.
