Albert R. Payne, 83, passed away August 7, 2014 at his residence in Lakewood. Mr. Payne was born in Newark moving to Maplewood for 33 years before settling in Lakewood for the past 14 years. He worked for the Newark Fire Department, retiring as a Battalion Chief after 31 years of service. Albert was an active member of the New Jersey FMBA. He was an avid painter and enjoyed spending time with his family. Mr. Payne is predeceased by his brother William E. Payne. Albert is survived by his wife of 60 years, Madeline, three sons, Jeffrey Payne and his wife Silvia, Mark Payne and Christopher Payne and his wife Luann, four grandchildren, Nicole Payne, Amanda Payne, Krisann Binetti, and Nicole Binetti, sister, Jean Rosensteel and her husband Phil, and sister-in-law, Polly Payne. Friends may call Sunday, August 10, 2014 from 2-6 pm at the D’Elia Funeral Home Rt. 70 & Vermont Ave. Lakewood, NJ 08701. Cremation will be private.
