Barbara Irma Saffran

Barbara Irma Saffran, age 79, of Lakewood, New Jersey passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2020. She was born July 14, 1941 in Brooklyn, New York to Joseph and Gertrude (née Burack) Harris.

Barbara was a sixth grade teacher for P.S. 200 in Brooklyn, New York for most of her teaching career. She met her husband Ronald in 1969 and were married soon after. Barbara was passionate about everything that she did, including teaching "her kids" in school every year. She loved to travel and explored many parts of this country and others. Barbara was most passionate about her dogs and granddogs. She loved them unconditionally, and often put their needs ahead of her own. She was extremely giving, and loved to help her family and friends in any way that she could.

Mrs. Saffran was preceded in death by her loving husband Ronald in July 1989.

Barbara is survived by her daughter Sara Saffran; son David Saffran and his wife Christine; twin granddaughters Mackenzie and Morgan Saffran; her dogs Bandit and Buddy; and her granddogs Mocha and Tootsie.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at 1:30 PM at Mount Sinai Cemetery, Route 79, Marlboro, New Jersey 07751 immediately followed by a burial.

Shiva will be observed at the late residence following the burial on Wednesday until 8:00 PM as well as Thursday through Tuesday from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Please call the family for more information.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Barbara's memory may be made to Wild Heart Ranch, P. O. Box 170, Foyil, Oklaholma 74031 ( Please be sure to mention that it is in honor of Barbara Saffran.
