Danny Richard Coleman

Danny, better known to all as Dan, was born in Phillipsburg, New Jersey on September 12, 1947. He was the eldest of three children born to Richard and Theresa Coleman. He was raised in Washington, New Jersey and graduated from Washington High School in 1965. Dan was drafted into the United States Army in 1967. He served in Vietnam where he attained the rank of E5 Sergeant and was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action.

He lived in New Jersey for most of his life and worked for Bell Labs, Lucent Technologies, and CBM before retiring in 2003. He and his wife, MaryAnn, then followed their dream of building a log cabin home in the mountains of North Carolina. They enjoyed living there for 21 years before returning to New Jersey in 2021 to be closer to family.

Dan enjoyed the outdoors and had a great love for dogs. He was an avid golfer and pilot, frequently flying out of R.J. Miller Air Park, Toms River, New Jersey. He also loved fishing, hunting, woodworking and playing his guitar.

Dan was a firefighter from 1981-1985 for the Asbury Fire Company Station 58 in Asbury, New Jersey. He was also a member of Masonic Lodge # 45.

He is survived by his loving wife, MaryAnn Coleman; his beloved daughters; Christine Nicoletti and husband TJ; Denise Knapp and husband Randy; sons James J. Barbiretti and wife Cindy and David Coleman. His grandchildren; Ashley Wynn and husband Ryan, James Barbiretti, Ian Knapp, Emily Knapp and Ariana Nicoletti also Grandchildren David, Taylor and Alexis; Great-grandchildren; Aubree, Parker, and Miles Wynn. Dan is also survived by his two siblings, sister, Nancy Savary and husband Mike, and brother Gary Coleman; along with many nieces and nephews and an abundance of friends he called family. He will be missed by many.

A Visitation for Danny will be held Wednesday, July 2, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at D'Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Ave, Lakewood, NJ 08701. Interment will follow, promptly at 1:00pm at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery; 350 Province Line Rd, Wrightstown, NJ 08562
