Dominick Mattessino

Dominick Mattessino, age 85, of Lakewood, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2012 at his residence. Born in Yonkers, NY on March 1, 1926, he was raised in Yonkers and resided there for most of his life, before relocating to NJ in 1998. Dominick was a graduate of Commerce High School in Yonkers, NY. He was a US Army veteran of WWII, serving in the 2nd Armored Division. He was a member of Village Airs singing group and several other clubs in the Original Leisure Village. Dominick was an avid bowler. He is survived by his children, Virginia (Jack) Welsh, Vincent Mattessino, and Angelina Mattesino; a daughter-in-law, Marisa Mattesino; a brother, Ralph Mattesino; seven grandchildren, Jillian, Daniel, William, Vincent, Christina, Linda, and Michael; four great-grandchildren, Dominique, J.P., Austin, and Kaitlyn; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Julia and his son Joseph. Visitation will be Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. & 7 to 9 p.m. at the D’Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Ave., Lakewood, NJ 08701. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Holy Family Church, 1141 E. County Line Rd., Lakewood, NJ 08701. Interment will follow in the BG William C. Doyle NJ Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the O.L.V. Health Center , 19 Buckingham Dr., Lakewood, NJ 08701.
