Doris was the daughter of Sadie and Charles DeLeo, and she was born on January 16, 1940 in Manhattan, NY. Her career in education gave her the opportunity to teach in New York and New Jersey public schools until retiring from the Lakewood Township, NJ public school system. One of her proudest career accomplishments was the look the students had when they finally comprehended what she was teaching.
She loved having company over for dinner and parties and she loved to bake. Doris enjoyed knitting, reading and one of her fondest family moments was when her son took her to see Frank Sinatra in person.
Wife of the late John Frank Gallego, she is survived by her son Frank Gallego and his wife Allison; a grandson, Frank Gallego; a brother, Tony DeLeo and his wife Bridie, and several other relatives and friends. The birth of her grandson was very special and she was so proud that he will carry on the family name.
