Elsa “Betty” Serrano, age 71, of Lakewood, passed away Monday at the Ocean Medical Center in Brick, NJ. Born and raised in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico, she came to Lakewood in 1965. Betty was a Eucharistic Minister and devoted parishioner to the St. Anthony Claret Parish in Lakewood, and was very active in various church activities. She is survived by three children, Ellie, Obdulio, Jr., and Anna Maria Serrano; a grandchild, Carlos A. Rodriguez, Jr.; 3 sisters, 6 brothers, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the D’Elia Funeral Home, Rte. 70 & Vermont Ave., Lakewood, NJ 08701. Her funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at the St. Anthony Claret Church, 780 Ocean Ave., Lakewood, NJ 08701. Burial will follow in St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery, Lakewood.
